Sadao Araki (26 May 1877 - 2 Nov. 1966)
Araki opposed Communism in all forms and was thought of as an authority on the Soviet Union. His idea was that Japan should fight the Soviets from the east. To do this, Japan had to capture Manchuria, which they would do. Furthermore he would attempt to take control from the civilian government and give it to the Emperor.
When Manchuria was captured by Japanese troops, Araki became War Minister of Japan, as well as Minister of Education. He was considered to be a charismatic individual, and a leader of the right-wing radicals in the military, helping to promote Japanese policies of aggression.
